Camping

Sleep beneath a Sea of Stars

Home to two campgrounds — San Simeon Creek Campground and Washburn Primitive Campground. The 541-acre San Simeon State Park boasts a diverse terrain that ranges from serene coastal settings to stately pine forest surroundings, creating a true haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

San Simeon Creek Campground

When visiting the San Simeon Creek Campground, choose from 115 developed sites. Each site features a fire ring, picnic table and water spigots. You may stake a tent or park recreational vehicles less than 35 feet long. Nearby restrooms include flush toilets and coin-operated showers. Dump stations, recycling bins, and pay phones are also available a short distance away from campsites. Instead of bringing firewood with you, please purchase firewood to burn from the camp host. Bringing wood into the campgrounds can spread pine pitch canker and sudden oak death.

Washburn Primitive Campground

Located approximately one mile inland from San Simeon’s rugged coastline, Washburn Primitive Campground’s 68 hilltop campsites are reachable from the entrance kiosk at San Simeon Creek Campground and are furnished with a fire ring and picnic table. Like the San Simeon Campground facilities, water faucets and vault toilets are available nearby. Campsites are first come, first serve, but reservations should be made at (800) 444-7275 if visiting between mid-March through September

Junior Ranger Program

Visiting with kids ages 3 through 12? Give them a chance to be part of the Junior Ranger or Junior Ranger Cubs Program, where they can learn about nature through fun, guided activities. Simply bring them to San Simeon Creek Campground’s Campfire Center to learn more about the day’s scheduled events.

Campfire Programs

Spend the cool summer nights celebrating a long-standing San Simeon tradition, with our one-hour evening campfire programs that include singing, storytelling and more. Held every evening, all summer long, the campfire programs are family friendly, but please dress warmly and bring a flashlight to help you find your way back.
