Scarecrow Festival
October in Cambria and San Simeon holds a special appeal! The weather is at its most spectacular and the Annual Scarecrow Festival, named to Travel Channel’s Don’t Miss List, is in full swing. It’s a great time to experience the area at its quirky and creative best. All month long, scarecrows showcase the artistic creativity, whimsical spirit and sense of humor that is Cambria. Hundreds of scarecrows line the streets, shop windows and beach fronts of these coastal communities.
The scarecrows will be positioned and displayed in well-defined areas around town that can be viewed by parking and walking. Scarecrow Walks are unique in that each display is outdoors and they can all be easily enjoyed while maintaining social distancing. Use the Visit Cambria App as a guide through the festival with location details and previews of the scarecrows.
Scarecrows In Focus: A Photographic Retrospective
Since 2008, the Cambria Scarecrow Festival has celebrated whimsy and creativity each October with a magical display of scarecrows. During that time, five photographers have been primarily responsible for the Festival’s photos on its website, social media and publications. Each has been asked to select a handful of their favorite photos of the Festival. All are on display during this year’s Festival. Discover just what a scarecrow can be. Additionally, a limited number of other prints, photos and merchandise will be available for sale. Exhibit open October 1 through October 30 during Cambria Center for the Arts normal hours, noon to 4 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Please join us at the opening reception on October 4th for light refreshments and wine (for sale by the glass). During the reception, 15% of any exhibit sale will be donated to the Cambria Scarecrow Festival. It should be a wonderful evening!
Studio Exhibit: October 1st – October 30th
Opening Reception: Saturday October 4th from 4:30pm – 6:00pm
