After Mr. Hearst passed away, some of the beloved wildlife that called “Enchanted Hill” home were set free to live life in the pastures along Highway 1. While driving through San Simeon, be sure to keep your eyes pealed for Zebras grazing in knee-high grass. Look in the opposite direction towards the sea to catch one of San Simeon’s most popular species, the elephant seals.

History is rich in San Simeon and this is no exception when talking about the Piedras Blancas Light Station.
